About It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air

Determining Success: The First Five Years

It All Adds Up conducted a "First Five Years" evaluation to document the initiative's progress. The results showed the value of varied approaches and, more importantly, highlighted the need to maintain flexibility in material development and use. Pilot and demonstration communities proved the benefits of having diverse materials, as reflected in the rich creativity of their individual approaches.

During the first five years, more than 60 other communities requested the It All Adds Up materials and information. Despite not having the $25,000 grant that the pilot and demonstration communities received to implement the initiative, they realized the benefits of using free, commercial-quality marketing materials and information in their programs—and of becoming part of a growing national "movement."

These organizations came from all over the country and used a variety of approaches, demonstrating the versatility of the It All Adds Up initiative.
