The 2004 ACT International Conference is right around the corner
The Association for Commuter Transportation (ACT) is dedicated to providing alternatives to the solo commute, and in doing so, decreasing traffic congestion and improving air quality. During the week of September 19, 2004, professionals from around the world will be in the Big Easy to discuss the past, present, and future of transportation demand management.
The theme for this year's conference is Past is Prologue: TDM Tradition and Innovation, which will provide a framework to discuss innovations in TDM marketing, planning, service development, evaluation, and more. In addition to exploring historic New Orleans, participants will explore historic influences on the industry that are still making their mark today.
The program on Sunday offers the following four professional workshops: using parking management to increase effectiveness of TDM programs, moving from victim to victor, TDM marketing, and how the planning process works.
The main conference agenda topics include marketing, new legislation, air quality alerts, Best Work Places for Commuters, innovations in telework, bicycle issues, and It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air! The keynote speakers and off-site tours will be both exciting and informative. Lastly, the National Transit Institute will hold its two-day Commuter Benefits course on Thursday and Friday following the conference.
Are you registered for what will be one the commuting industry's best events of the year? If not, there is still time to sign up. Hope to see you in New Orleans
