Recent Discussions on the Exchange
The Exchange is a great place to share research results and ways you demonstrate the benefits of your program. Participants have access to a wealth of information, such as:
- The American Automobile Association (AAA) recently reported that among AAA drivers in Arizona, those surveyed said they would be willing to do more with less when buying a vehicle in order to reduce auto emissions and save money. Some 55 percent of respondents said they could live with fewer choices in vehicle styles and brands and 40 percent would consider smaller and lighter vehicles.
- The Transportation Research Board's National Cooperative Highway Research Program posted a copy of their new report, Using Customer Needs to Drive Transportation Decisions. The report provides a review of best practices in using focus groups and surveys to explore and evaluate transportation decisions.
- The organization Bikes at Work provided access to a database on car-free commuting behavior (% bicyclists, % pedestrians, % transit users, and % non-car commuters) for every community in the US - over 24,000 cities in all - for 1990 and 2000.
- Bob Steen of Fleishman-Hillard provided a quick review checklist and reasons why now is the best time to begin planning ways you will demonstrate your program's benefits.
- The DOT and EPA announced that spreadsheets for tracking It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air publicity efforts are available for testing.
As community partners complete their research, they share their findings on the Exchange. If you haven't yet signed up to be a part of the Exchange network, you're missing out on useful information, insights, and resources.
