Discussions on the Exchange
The Exchange is a great place to share information
about educational tools and upcoming
events. Participants have access to
a wealth of information on topics directly
related to community programs. For example:
- The North Carolina Department of
Environment and Natural Resources
discussed an educational tool they
developed, a game called Air Jeopardy!,
based on the popular television trivia
show. Topics in their version include
weather, air pollution, and other
air quality issues. U.S. EPA responded
that the North Carolina game inspired
them to develop a similar one with
topics such as chemistry, health effects
and mobile sources. Visit the Fast
Facts or 10
Simple Steps pages to find interesting
statistics you can use to develop
your own Air Jeopardy! game. Post
your efforts on the Exchange and you
too can inspire others!
- Lindsay Haas of the Wisconsin Department
of Natural Resources promoted the
launch of a new Web site targeted
to elementary school kids and their
teachers, www.airdefenders.org.
Air quality, open burning and respiratory
health are the focus of this Web site.
Kids meet cartoon characters Seeker,
Identifyer, and Recyclotron while
they learn fun facts, play games and
listen to music on the topics. The
Teacher Pages are filled with other
education resources. Log onto the
Exchange
to promote a Web site your organization
has found helpful or to find other
online resources for your program.
- This spring there is no shortage
of events and conferences, and you
can find them all posted on the Exchange!
From the 15th annual Tour de Sol to
the 10th annual Clean Cities Conference
and the NIH Obesity and the Built
Environment Conference, there is something
for every organization to get involved
in. Visit
the Exchange to find out what's
happening this season or to post your
own events.
