December 2002

For many communities, air pollution and traffic congestion concerns aren't confined to just a season or two, they're year-round challenges. Changing driving routines also calls for a concerted, year-round, long term effort. And taking into account new information on the health effects of particulate matter and other transportation-related emissions, we want to encourage people to alter their routines and take actions that will reduce vehicle emissions throughout year. Although the It All Adds Up To Cleaner Air initiative was designed to give you tools to address these challenges, we understand that some of the initiative's messages could be made more relevant during parts of the year when air pollution isn't top of mind for most residents.

We think we've come up with an exciting new approach to help you tackle this problem head-on: It All Adds Up To Cleaner Air is going year-round!

With the launch of the Winter Theme Program, we are providing you with new, enhanced tools that can help you reach your transportation and air quality outreach goals during the winter months. We're also planning to expand this format to give you a platform from which you can raise awareness about connections between air quality and transportation throughout the year. >>more
