FHWA is continuing its efforts to promote the It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air winter messages through a variety of activities including:

  • Working with various organizations to encourage them to promote the winter messages and to share resources and information with their members and our Community Partners, including the Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations, the National Association of Regional Councils, the Telework Coalition, the Association for Commuter Transportation, ITS America, Sierra Club, the American Lung Association, American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials, and the State and Territorial Air Pollution Program Administrators and Association of Local Air Pollution Control Officials (STAPPA/ALAPCO).
  • At the EPA/STAPPA/ALAPCO National Air Quality Conference, February 5-8,2006 in San Antonio (www.airnow.gov), It All Adds Up representatives will present the new Spanish-language It All Adds Up to Cleaner Air materials, discuss public education opportunities under the new Safe Routes to School program, and facilitate a roundtable discussion to create a wish list of website improvements, webinars, and other communication enhancements, and hit the always-important topic of new messages and materials.
  • Developing an "evergreen" flash animation for the winter messages that is as appropriate for Mojave Desert as it is for Mid-Ohio.
  • Providing technical assistance to Community Partners and members of the Alliance for Clean Air and Transportation (ACAT), such as customizing the Flash animation and print materials.

We hope the winter materials and online resources will help you with your outreach efforts this season. Please let us hear from you about the ways you adapt the materials for your community and about your progress in reaching your target audience(s). And please let us know if you have ideas for future seasons-we rely on your feedback as we look for ways to improve the initiative. Send us a note to tell us what you're thinking!
